Release Fundraiser: The
Hub\'s Revenge

10pm – 3:30am
5 hours 30 mins
11 Jul - 12 Jul

Release is the national centre of expertise on drugs and drugs law providing free and confidential specialist advice to the public and professionals. Release also campaigns for changes to UK drug policy to bring about a fairer and more compassionate legal framework to manage drug use in our society. The UK is currently one of the deadliest countries in Europe for people who use drugs. This situation is only setto get worse: the spread of synthetic opioids and their contimaintion of multiple drug supplies means is a serious concern. Given government inaction and willingness to let people die, we need to take action and fight against the forces preventing change around us to truly bring change. We need spaces to keep people safe, alive, and informed. Release opened the Harm Reduction Hub in East London this year: it is a community drop-in centre which provides low threshold harm reduction advice and signposting for any visitor, with the goal of benefitting people who are traditionally underserved due to stigma – such as people who rough sleep, use drugs, or sell sex. Through the Hub, anyone is able to get drug test strips, drug testing kits, legal advice (similar to a helpline), signposted to relevant services, as well as a warm drink and a friendly face. As it is mostly funded by donations, Release is fundraising to keep the Hub stocked, staffed, and loaded. All funds raised will revert directly back to protecting and informing our community on how they can keep safe and look out for each other. £7 minimum donation from 9:30pm Door Policy Dalston Superstore is a queer space. We prioritise our LGBTQIA+ customers and will sometimes ask our straight & cis allies to support us by not taking up room in our venue. Please be conscious of who this space is intended for and be respectful. Never assume sexuality or gender identity. We will never ask personal questions on the door. Low/no income access We reserve limited spaces for those who cannot afford the standard ticket price due to being on low or no income. Please email to enquire.
